"Main Street" is based on Sinclair Lewis’s satirical novel. Professor Tom Isbell directs the play, which captures the life and struggles of Carol Kennicott as she comes into conflict with the small-town mentality of the residents of Gopher Prairie, Minnesota. Ryan Frane conducts UMD Jazz Ensembles I and II and the Big Time Jazz Orchestra with special guest artist John Fedchock. Stupid F##king Bird – Encore Fundraiser
UMD Theatre's production of Stupid F##king Bird is headed to the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, but first, there is one more on-campus performance. Proceeds help the cast and crew get to the festival in Des Moines. This “sort of adaptation” of Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull follows a dysfunctional group of artists, lovers and free spirits as they clumsily navigate a world riddled with grief, ego, passion, hypocrisy and the inevitable loss of hope.
