The Duluth Public Library's Star Wars Escape Room is open to all age groups and is set up based on the ages of those participating. Storytime with Chione
Featuring a musical story based on Twin Cities author Ka Vang’s "Shoua and the Northern Lights Dragon." Vang’s short chapter book tells the story of Shoua, a Hmong-American girl who discovers her voice as she saves an injured dragon while camping in the northern woods of Minnesota. The Duluth Community Garden Program is partnering with the Duluth Public Library to replant their neglected outdoor area with native pollinator species, fruiting and medicinal plant varieties that serve the public as educational tools, ecologically benefit wildlife in the area, and add to the aesthetic atmosphere. Woodblind performs as part of the City Sounds concert series held on Thursday evenings on the Duluth Public Library’s plaza. Chairs will be set up, but attendees are welcome to bring their own. Rain or shine.

The city of Duluth is developing an Athletic Venues Reinvestment Initiative action plan to guide more than $30 million of investments in park-based athletic venues that drive regional sports tourism. Three public informational open-house events are planned for community members to learn more about AVRI and to provide their input, preferences and priorities about the project. Participants may come and go as they please in these open house events, staying for as little or as much time as they’d like.

Leveraging NaNoWriMo To Write that Book
Local author Gina Ramsey will present on how to make the most of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) to accomplish writing goals. Gina is dedicated to supporting fellow writers by helping them connect and network with experts in writing, publishing and marketing.

The classic 1993 film will be shown while participants play Hocus Pocus-themed bingo. Crafts and coloring available before the film starts at 2:00. Runs 95 minutes and is rated PG. This STEM program celebrates the month of October and the silly, creepy, crawly fun that comes with it. There will be hands-on experiments with pumpkins, slime and other weird textures. A ghoulish dance party, craft and play time. At 11, participants line up for a costume parade before trick-or-treating around the library. The Mini Monster Mash is geared for ages birth to pre-K, but all children and their caregivers are welcome. The event is in the library's Green Room.

Kids can create a Vincent van Ghost painting by adding ghosts and other creatures to pre-existing art while watching the movie Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. Snacks and candy will be provided. This event is geared towards kids in grades 6-12.

The Lake Superior Writers will host a write-in for National Novel Writing Month. This write-in is open to both seasoned writers and those new to NaNoWriMo. Quiet work spaces will be available, as well as coffee and camaraderie with fellow writers. Suitable for ages 13 plus.
