Figure Drawing Open Studio
The Duluth Art Institute offers two-hour figure drawing sessions to serious artists, from beginner to expert. Sessions are held on the first Saturday of each month and include a live model. Work time is self-directed, no instruction is offered. Headphones and water bottles are welcome. Paper, sketching materials and easels are available. Kid’s Clay Camp with Serenity Kenan
Young artists explore the creation of beads, finger puppets, and 3D collage in this three-session class led by local artist Serenity Kenan. Projects will also involve painting in a variety of mediums. Snacks and door prizes are provided. Sessions are held on three Saturday mornings -- Feb. 10, 17 and 24 -- from 10 a.m. to noon. Valentine's Day Wine and Clay Night is an educational, immersive evening of pottery for partners. It includes appetizers and a tour of the ceramic studio followed by an introduction to wheel-throwing and a painting/glazing project with pre-made bisque cups. The cost is $200 per couple. Rad Art with Serenity Kenan
Rad Art features 2D and 3D art projects based on each young artist's personal interest. Students explore illustration, clay and paint in a unique studio workshop experience, and may choose to participate in a public exhibit at the Duluth Public Library. Registration is $150 for Duluth Art Institute members and $170 for non-members. All three sessions are 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Saturdays March 9-23.

Plein Air Oiling Painting with Matt Kania
Plein air oil painting is a traditional way to create landscape paintings on-location in nature. This four session class is for beginner and intermediate plein air painters who are looking to practice various methods for starting and finishing paintings, different ways to use a palette knife and brushes and working successfully with a limited color palette to create a compelling outdoor scene. Functional Pottery
Focus on various decorating techniques and learning the DAI studio glazes while also experimenting with making items. This eight-session class allows six weeks to do tests and make wetwork.
