Explore hands-on activities, watch a planetarium show, or peer out to the great beyond with a telescope (weather permitting) in the parking lot outside the planetarium. Planetarium shows will run every half hour throughout the event. There are a limited number of seats. Get a show ticket at the table just outside the planetarium hallway to reserve a space. On May 5 at 7 p.m., the Marshall W. Alworth Planetarium at UMD is hosting “Expedition: Moons” where guests will get the chance to get in the MWAP spaceship and explore the 150+ moons the solar system has to offer. The show will be followed with a live presentation of that night’s sky. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door.

The the UMD Institute on the Environment shows the documentary Northern Nights, Starry Skies. This documentary is a co-production of PBS North and Hamline University’s Center for Global Environmental Education. Informational tabling and refreshments begin at 5:30 p.m. The documentary showing runs from 6-7 p.m. Tabling and conversation are set up from 7-7:30 p.m. This is a free event that requires registration in order to attend.
