Jolabokaflod is an Icelandic word, meaning holiday book flood, and tradition that originated during World War II. Paper was one of the few unrationed commodities during the war, making books one of the few gifts available during the winter holidays. The Duluth Public Library celebrates this tradition with quiet reading, games, crafts and puzzles. Michelle’s Lefse truck and the Underwood Coffee cart will be serving food and beverages.

Members of the public are invited to bring an antique or collectible to the Duluth Depot's rotunda for a free appraisal. Denny Mager of Northern Specialty will offer opinions on the value of submitted antiques. People may bring up to two items for an informal oral identification and evaluation of each antique.
