The Winterers’ Gathering and Arctic Film Festival celebrates the crafts, customs, history and stories that have been inspired by winter. Come to North House Folk School for a weekend packed with winter-centric events including an Arctic Film Fest, winter tent camp, a great gear and ski sale, contra dancing, a chili feed, slam poetry and more. Wool, woodstoves, and winter weave together for Fiber Week at North House Folk School, a thematic week celebrating all manner of fiber arts. The day-long conference features craft demonstrations, presentations, mini-courses and a Fiber Fun Fair. This year’s featured Speaker is Mette Østman, a felter from Denmark. The Summer Solstice and Wooden Boat Festival celebrates summer on Lake Superior by weaving together craft, community and the beauty of long days by the lake. Highlights include hands-on crafting for all ages, a harborside boat walk, live music and contra dancing, a cookout and ice cream social, a craft tools and supplies auction, and a Summer Solstice Pageant by the Good Harbor Hill Players.
