Yin Yoga and Healing Cello Vibrations
Event Navigation
From the organizer:
We are constantly bombarded with stressors and our nervous systems are often on high alert (hyperarousal—the stress response). Between this and the way we use our bodies (either through activity or sedentary lifestyle), our “issues are in our tissues” — our bodies carry so tremendously much. Our connective tissue (fascia) holds our physical body together. It is also the intersection of the mind/body connection. Our emotions, memories, and traumas are stored in our fascia. As a result we can experience tension, tightness, and blockages along our fascial network. Yin is a therapeutic, slow-paced form of yoga. We hold postures passively for longer periods of time (1-10 minutes) to move into our connective tissue to release and open more deeply. Yin draws from traditional Chinese medicine in its approach to movement and energy. The benefits of Yin include: Calms and balances the mind and body; Reduces stress and anxiety; Increases circulation; Improves flexibility; Releases fascia and improves joint mobility; Balances the internal organs and improves the flow of chi or prana (life force). The final 10 minutes of class will be dedicated to deep rest.
The healing live cello (Rebecca James-Alsum) and guitar (Mark Alsum) provide deep, resonate healing vibrations that gently break-up long-held tensions encouraging your physical body to soften and release. The soothing sounds are a salve for the soul, inspiring an inward-gaze and traverse along the inner-landscape to know yourself more deeply. This beautiful coupling of Yin and healing cello vibrations may awaken new awareness, insight, inner-connection (mind-body-spirit), and transformation.
