Wild Teaching and Learning: Winter Tree ID
Event Navigation
Wild Teaching and Learning is a series of nature-based learning experiences that center on themes of current seasonal happenings in Duluth and compares these findings to phenology at Voyageurs National Park. Sessions are designed for educators, though all adults are welcome to attend.
The January session will look at the basic ways to identify Minnesota trees in the wintertime. Examine patterns in branching, bark, buds and leaf scars. Explore the trails and trees of Hartley Nature Center and take home some guides that will help to ID trees. Recommended: water bottle, warm gear, snowshoes. Snowshoes are available to rent through Hartley Nature Center at $10 a day for non-members and $5 for members. For questions or scholarship requests, email [email protected].
