Which Plants Should I Plant?

Thu, Jun 20, 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm | Free | Online Event

Event Navigation

Jessy Carlson, resilience extension associate at Minnesota Sea Grant, and John Bly, director of operations and special projects at Metro Blooms, present this free webinar hosted by Cook County Higher Education. The event is part of Minnesota Sea Grant’s project on Partnering with Local Governments for Climate Adaptation. It is aimed at residents of northeast Minnesota.

Adding native Minnesota plants to a yard can provide pollinator habitat, prevent erosion, filter storm-water runoff and add beauty. But how does one know which species to choose? In this one-hour webinar, Carlson and Bly will simplify the process of making a native garden species list. They will cover how to clarify project goals, identify site conditions that will determine a species list, and introduce the Blue Thumb Plant Finder, an online, Minnesota-specific species selection tool that can provide a species list tailored for specific projects and locations.
