Wednesday Night at the Races

The Young Athletes Foundation and Grandma’s Marathon invite children 12 and under to take part in a series of six summer running races. Registration is between 5 p.m. and 5:50 p.m., and the races begin at 6 p.m. with the wheelchair division (when offered) followed by the youngest age group and ending with the oldest children. The races draw an average of more than 400 children per night.

July 26 — Hermantown High School
Aug. 2 — Two Harbors High School
Aug. 9 — Duluth East High School
Aug. 16 — Proctor High School
Aug. 23 – Wade Stadium
Age Groups and Distances
Courage Duluth wheelchair division – 1/8 mile
4 and under – 1/8 mile
5 and 6 years old – 1/8 mile
7 and 8 years old – 1/4 mile
9 and 10 years old – 1/4 mile
11 and 12 years old – 1/2 mile
Wheelchair and adaptive division – 1/8 mile
Participation is free and each week children will receive a ribbon upon completion of their race.
The Young Athletes Foundation is a Grandma’s Marathon program that focuses on the promotion and development of healthy and active lifestyles for youth throughout the region. Since its inception in 1990, the YAF has contributed more than $1 million to area nonprofit youth athletic organizations.
