Duluth playhouse puts on the original musical “Waitress” at the NorShor Theatre. Opening night is July 11 and the play runs through July 27.
Book by Jessie Nelson. Featuring original music and lyrics by Grammy Award winner Sara Bareilles (“Brave,” “Love Song”), Waitress has been praised by audiences and critics alike. Jenna, a waitress and expert pie-maker, dreams of a way out of her small town and rocky marriage. A baking contest in a nearby county offers her a chance at a fresh start, but first, Jenna must summon the strength and courage to rebuild her own life. This “little slice of heaven” (Entertainment Weekly) celebrates friendship, motherhood, and the magic of a well-made pie.
