Event Navigation
The St. Louis County Historical Society and its Veterans Memorial Hall program host the 18th annual Veterans Remembrance Dinner in the Great Hall of the Duluth Depot. The annual fundraising event includes a social hour and a silent auction fundraiser.
General Joseph L. Votel will be the keynote speaker. His topic will be “A Return to Great Power Competition” and will address three subthemes: the state of competition in Eastern Europe and the South China Sea, challenges and opportunities for the United States, and strategies for maintaining a competitive edge. General Votel is a Minnesota native and retired four-star general in the United States Army who was commander of United States Central Command from March 2016 to March 2019. Before that, he served as commander of the United States Special Operations Command.
The event will take place in the Great Hall of the St. Louis County Depot. It is held in honor of CSM John Werner who passed away March 25. Furthermore, it will help fund improvements to the society’s Medal of Honor Row.
