Twin Ports Wind Orchestra Concert: Music of the Americas

The Twin Ports Wind Orchestra and conductor Dr. Mark Whitlock present the spring concert “Music of the Americas,” featuring rhythms and stories in music from Brazil, Colombia, Mexico and the United States. Nubia Jaime Donjuan joins the ensemble as a featured visiting composer and conductor, sharing more about her band piece Masoyé Eme, which was inspired by danzón and La Danza del Venado Yaqui (from the Sonoran Desert).
The concert repertoire includes:

Villa Lobos Suite – Heitor Villa-Lobos (Brazilian)
Suite Arrullo – Victoriano Valencia Rincón (Colombian)
Masoyé Eme – Nubia Jaime Donjuan (Mexican) **composer visiting as guest conductor for this concert**
Selections from Star Wars – John Williams (American)
Liberty Fanfare – John Williams (American)
Additionally, students from Cloquet High School Band, directed by Mr. Kevin Huseth, are performing as honors musicians with the orchestra.
General admission tickets are $15 for adults, $13 for senior citizens, $8 for students and free for children ages 12 and under. Tickets go on sale one hour before the performance. The house opens 30 minutes prior to the performance. Please allow ample time to find parking.
