Tim Eriksen Singing School

Shape Note singing is a unique American folk tradition. In Colonial New England, Singing Masters would travel from town to town, holding ‘Singing Schools’, to help regular folks learn to sing in four part harmony using Tune Books. Tim Eriksen is a modern-day Singing Master and will help participants learn the rudiments of the tradition, how the books are used, and lead the ‘wall of sound’ singing. Loaner books will be available, and visitors will be greeted and helped to sit where they feel comfortable. It is fine to just sit in the back and listen and children are welcome to sit on laps or play quietly.
