The Duluth Playhouse presents The Light in the Piazza, a musical based on the book by Craig Lucas, with music and lyrics by Adam Guettel. Performances run March 14-30.
Travel with American tourists Margaret Johnson and her daughter Clara as they take in the wonders of Florence, Italy, in the summer of 1953. When a fateful gust of wind whisks Clara’s hat into the hands of Fabrizio, it’s amore at first sight. Heralded as a work of consummate beauty when it opened on Broadway, The Light in the Piazza won six Tony Awards, including Best Original Score for Adam Guettel (grandson of legendary composer Richard Rodgers).
