Superior Sevens Tournament

Men’s rugby teams from around the state are coming to Superior for the Lake Superior Sevens tournament.

Rugby sevens is a fast-paced, diverse, full contact sport played without pads or helmets. Because each game is only 14 minutes, there’s a lot of action in a short time frame. Athletes range from little, scrappy fast guys and big, heavy bruisers ages 18 to 60, all passing the ball backwards and sideways and trying to move down the field.

There will be grilled food and drink for sale.

While the Twin Ports Harbor Monsters are invite-only, the Twin Ports Ice Monkeys are always recruiting new rugby members — no experience required. Practices are Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Boomtown.
