Sobriety Feast
Event Navigation
The Sobriety Feast is a cultural and spiritual place for Native American community members working toward sobriety. Feast are held on the last Friday of each month, led by Indigenous community leaders Frances Saukko and Joel Boshey. This event includes drumming, smudging practices, prayer, spiritual advisors and speakers. The drum is specifically used for this event, and sage is used to smudge attendees. A spiritual advisor is present to lead prayers for the meals and the meetings. Each month, there is a featured speaker who shares their journey to sobriety.
This event is supported by the Duluth Indigenous Commission, the Northland Foundation and the American Indian Community Housing Organization. AICHO participates at the sobriety feasts and hands out COVID tests and materials to attendees.
