Sharing Traditions of Sugar-Bushing and Rice-Camping

The Carlton County Historical Society and the Fon du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa have worked together to create a new exhibit showcasing maple sugar and wild rice harvesting. At the opening ceremony, makak birch bark sap baskets will be on display and a blessing ceremony will be performed. Apple cider and snacks will be provided. After the ceremony, participants will take a tour of the maple sugar process courtesy of Bruce Savage. The event takes place at Spirit Lake Native Farms located at 1032 Spirit Lake Road, Sawyer, MN.
