All events for Shades of Africa: UMD Symphony Orchestra and Artaria String Quartet

The 2023 edition of Shades of Africa, organized by Haiti-born Jean R. Perrault, UMD Professor of Music and Director of Orchestras, is a recurring festival celebrating African heritage. Perrault will conduct the UMD Symphony Orchestra, performing works by Christopher Ducasse, Anthony Green, Arturo Marquez, Occide Jeanty, and Jose Moncayo. The renowned, Twin Cities-based Artaria String Quartet will join the performance as special guest artists.
