Recycle Fresh-cut Holiday Trees with the Treecycling Program
Event Navigation
Western Lake Superior Sanitary District and area partners kick off the annual Treecycling program on Dec. 21. The free holiday tree recycling program offers multiple drop-off locations throughout the region.
Holiday trees, like other yard and garden waste, are banned from the landfill in Minnesota. Trees contain valuable resources that can be reclaimed through Treecycling. Collected trees will be ground up and composted by WLSSD, saving landfill space while safely managing invasive species that may have been brought in on trees from outside the region.
This season’s Treecycling program continues to offer a variety of convenient tree recycling sites — all open for extended periods. Some sites open up right before the holiday for residents who might need to take down their trees before travelling. Please be sure to remove ornaments, tinsel and lights. The program cannot accept flocked trees. Visit wlssd.com for details on Treecycling locations and the dates and times each site is accepting trees. Signs at each location help locate the spot to drop trees.
