Oil Painting en Plein Air with Matt Kania
Event Navigation
Develop better outdoor oil-painting skills with Matt Kania. Classes will meet in outdoor locations in the Duluth area. Students will learn methods for starting and finishing oil paintings entirely on location. Techniques in paint mixing, brush handling and learning to observe will be explored. Kania demonstrates and works one-on-one with students to develop lasting impressions on canvas.
Some painting experience is recommended. Students will need to supply their own materials and easel. The Duluth Art Institute has a limited supply of canvas and paint for students to utilize if needed. Contact Emma Spooner at espooner @ duluthartinstitute.org for help accessing supplies.
The three sessions are held on Tuesdays, May 24 to June 7. The cost is $100 for Duluth Art Institute members and $80 for non-members. Register online at duluthartinstitute.org.
Proof of vaccination is required to participate in this class. On the first day of class students must present their vaccine card or a copy of it and a form of identification. Students are not required to wear masks outdoors when they can be distanced.
