Spend a day outside with Cindy Hale learning how to identify common mushrooms that are useful in natural dyeing. Students will then learn the process of cooking dye vats using mushrooms. A selection of dye vats will be pre-made for the dyeing section of the class. Each participant will get to dye at least one sample skein of yarn.
Open to all adult learners and individual children 14 years or older. Family groups are encouraged to attend with children 7 years of age or older.
Bring clothing for the weather, closed toe shoes, sun hat, rain gear if needed, water bottle, lunch and snacks for the day, sunscreen, bug spray, gathering bags (especially if you want to take dye stuff home) and a notebook.
$50 DFG members, $60 non-members
