Minnesota State Old Time Fiddle Championships
Event Navigation
The Minnesota State Old Time Fiddle Championships brings fiddlers together on Minnesota’s Iron Range during Mountain Iron Merritt Days.
The event is certified by the National Old Time Fiddle Association. Cash prizes are awarded to contestants in each age division. Five championship winners are declared by the highest scores across all divisions. The overall champion qualifies to participate in the National Old Time Fiddle Championships.
Contestants play three tunes — a hoedown, a waltz and a tune of choice. The exception is twin fiddling, where only one tune is required. No sheet music is allowed on stage.
