JAM Concert Series: Owls Club Big Band, Sugar on the Roof and Duluth East Jazz Band
Event Navigation
The Owls Club Big Band hatched late in 2016 and took the name of the group’s inaugural concert venue, the Duluth Owls Club. The 17 or so musicians comprising the ensemble are devotees of helping the ladies and gentlemen looking back at them from the floor find the center of Saturday night, no matter which night of the week it is.
Sugar on the Roof plays old-timey string, country and swing music from the 1920s, ’30s and ’40s, with a dash of originals.
The second annual Jazz Appreciation Month Concert Series promotes jazz awareness with concerts held twice a week at various restaurants and venues, generating performance opportunities for more than 80 local and regional jazz musicians ranging from high-school students to professionals. The series is organized by local music stakeholders in partnership with Campfire Music Foundation, a Minnesota music nonprofit focused on community development and reducing issues of musical labor insecurity.
