JAM Concert Series: Analise Levesque Trio and Open Jam Session

The Analise Levesque Trio features Analise Levesque on piano along with Sten Duginski on drums and Calvin Caron on bass. They have been performing in the Twin Ports area for about a year. The trio met while playing together in ensembles at UMD and have found camaraderie as both bandmates and friends.

Analise is heavily influenced by the playing and compositions of Aaron Parks, Chick Corea, and Keith Jarrett. She aims to tell her stories through her music, focusing greatly on moving harmonies and voice-like melodic lines. The group performs a mix of originals and jazz standards and aims to play as an interactive unit that constantly converses with one another.

The JAM Concert Series is held during the month of April because April is Jazz Appreciation Month. Concerts are held twice a week at various venues around Duluth. One concert features a small jazz ensemble that will play a 50 min set and then a jam session commences where everyone is invited to play, especially students. The other concert consists of a local high school’s big band, followed by either a collegiate big band or a jazz combo, and then the night concludes with a local professional Big Band.
