“Improving 6th Avenue East” is a forum where attendees can learn how the 4-to-3 lane conversion could significantly calm traffic, reduce crashes, and increase connection within the neighborhood as well as between the Hillside and downtown.
At the forum, City staff share thoughts and ideas, and prepare for the City’s public input process beginning August 1, 2023 for 2024 resurfacing.
“6th Avenue East is a former highway that has cut the City of Duluth in half. Once a thriving, connected neighborhood, Central Hillside now experiences some of the worst health outcomes in the county. Due to community advocacy and prioritization by the City, this highway relic is finally getting resurfaced in 2024 with opportunities to improve pedestrian and commuter safety, incubate local businesses, beautify the corridor with green space and community art, and much more.”
