Homeless Memorial Vigil 2024
Event Navigation
Chum’s annual Homeless Memorial Vigil is an opportunity to remember those who have died in the past year who have also spent much of their lives homeless or advocating for those who are homeless.
The event begins at 5:15 p.m. at the Chum Food Shelf, 120 N. First Ave. W. From there a group will march to Duluth Civic Center. A vigil will commence on the steps of City Hall.
This annual vigil is a moment of reflection, remembrance and unity. It is a time to honor those who have passed away, recognizing them not just for the hardships they endured but as the cherished sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers and grandparents they were. The event provides an opportunity for the community to come together, reflect on the challenges faced by those
without stable housing, and renew its commitment to addressing homelessness.
This year’s vigil will include a candlelight ceremony and a reading of names to commemorate those lost.
