History in a Pint: Saluting the Civil War – Minnesota’s Role
Event Navigation
Veterans Memorial Hall, a program of the St. Louis County Historical Society, presents its next event in the History in a Pint series. Minnesota historian Doug Ohman will present “Saluting the Civil War – Minnesota’s Role.”
Ohman is an author and storyteller noted for bringing Minnesota’s history to life. The program will inform about Minnesota’s role in the Civil War — the men who signed up to fight, what battles they fought in, and the effect it had on their families back in Minnesota.
Duluth’s own Albert Woolson, the last living Civil War soldier who died in 1956, will be just one of many veterans spotlighted who left home to fight, and as a result changed the settlement of the state, and precipitated other events in Minnesota as a result of the Civil War.
The History in a Pint series features the stories of veterans and their experiences serving in the military. Audience members can enjoy a pint of beer or two from local brewers during the presentations.
Admission is free; donations are welcome. There is a cash bar. Parking is available behind the Duluth Depot complex. Follow signage for the North Shore Scenic Railway parking, accessible from Fourth Avenue West.
