Grit & Gratitude 2024
Event Navigation
Grit & Gratitude is a bike ride to raise money to fight pediatric cancer and celebrate the resilience of Lily Buchholz, who had hepatoblastoma, a rare pediatric liver cancer. Spokengear in Two Harbors is the location of the start and finish. There is a 50-mile gravel course and a 25-mile paved course.
The gravel and paved routes are the same for the first few miles. The gravel 50-mile riders turn onto a route following Jeremy Kershaw’s gravel muse, and the road bikers head down toward Lake Superior to scenic Highway 61.
Check-in for the 50-mile course is at 8 a.m. with the ride starting at 9. Check-in for the 25-mile course is at 9 a.m. with the ride starting at 10. Riders should choose a route they can complete in five hours or less and plan to circle back to Spokengear by 2 p.m.
There will be a silent auction near the rider check in. Bidding will close out between 2 and 2:30 p.m. All proceeds go to fight pediatric cancer.
Half of the proceeds from the ride go to hepatoblastoma research at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and the other half to organizations helping families deal with the day-to-day struggles of navigating their child’s cancer, such as Ronald McDonald House, Dragonfly Foundation and the Northern Lights Foundation.
