Grand Opening of North Shore Lumber
Event Navigation
North Shore Lumber is hosting a celebratory picnic of grilled brats and hot dogs, followed by a ribbon cutting with Mayor Lew Conner. There will be a drawing to win gift certificates and a Milwaukee chainsaw.
The lumberyard dates back to the earliest days of Two Harbors when it was established in 1889 by Jas H. Lunz. The lumberyard provided the growing city with lumber and coal shipments. Beginning in 1963, it was owned and operated by the Gangestad family as Two Harbors Lumber Co. Last November, it was purchased by Adam Johnson of Duluth and renamed North Shore Lumber, allowing brother and sister Gene and Donna Gangestad to retire after 60 years of serving the community. Celebrate this historic lumberyard’s new chapter. Experience the nostalgia of a 135-year lumberyard legacy.
