Duluth-stämman Workshop: Singing While Dancing
Event Navigation
Ancient runic shapes can be seen in the way the human body moves while walking, skiing, working, and dancing. The Norwegian words for movement in dancing and skiing are svikt (wave), tyngde (weight), and kraft (power). Attendees of this workshop can experience these runes and energies in the body, and see how they show up in traditional wool work, churning and bobbin braiding. Facilitators say that “experiencing these movements puts you in a timeless state.” The Kvinnekraft group, otherwise known as “the singer-dancers three,” guide this workshop.
This workshop is part of the the second annual Duluth-stämman: Nordic Music and Dance Festival, which offers dances, workshops, jam circles, performances and youth activities that aim to be inclusive to people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.
