Duluth-stämman Workshop: Hardanger Fiddle

Fri, Jun 7, 4:00 pm | $32 | University of Minnesota Duluth

Event Navigation

Loretta Kelley teaches an “all-levels” class in traditional Hardanger fiddle. Players with any prior experience playing folk music on the violin are welcome to join. Loretta explores the intricacies of bowing, rhythm and tone production, using simpler tunes as examples. Players who do not have a Hardanger fiddle but have a violin are welcome to sit in. Loretta will have a couple of “violin capos” to enable violinists to play along without needing to retune their violins.

This workshop is part of the the second annual Duluth-stämman: Nordic Music and Dance Festival, which offers dances, workshops, jam circles, performances and youth activities that aim to be inclusive to people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.
