Duluth Explorers Club: Hansi Johnson
Event Navigation
Duluth outdoor advocate, philosopher and fun-hog Hansi Johnson not only indulges in disciplines ranging from fly fishing to every kind of trail sport imaginable, but he has also played a key role in branding the city and region as a “world-class outdoor destination” through his award winning photography. Johnson’s presentation, “Exposing the Fallacy of Flatness,” is full of stories and great photography.
Johnson is a full-time advocate who helps communities in Minnesota envision how they can invest in outdoor recreation infrastructure and the stewardship to maintain it. He currently works with the Minnesota Land Trust in Duluth.
Photography has been an effective tool for Johnson’s efforts and has subsequently become a profession in itself. His artistic focus is on the upper Midwest and the unique and authentic adventures that can be found within the region. However, his skills have led to many amazing and esoteric adventures all over the world.
Johnson’s images have appeared in Outside, Bike, Freehub, Powder, the Drake, the Flyfish Journal, Cross Country Skier Magazine, Trail Runner and Minnesota Monthly, to name a few. He lives in Thomson with his wife Margaret Harstad and his son Tae.
Food and drinks will be available for purchase at the event. Social time starts at 7 p.m. with the presentation beginning at 7:30.
