Children’s theater returns to the Marshall Performing Arts Center with Dragons Love Tacos. The production is written by Ernie Nolan, based on the book by Adam Rubin. This adaptation of the wildly popular children’s book answers the question “What could go wrong when you give a dragon spicy salsa?” (Turns out, a lot can.) The production is aimed at all ages.
The story follows a boy and his dog as a magical man in a suit emerges from the TV to give them — and the audience — a lesson on the behavior of dragons. First and foremost, we learn that dragons love tacos, a fact almost as important as the warning about what can go wrong if they eat even a tiny bit of spicy salsa.
Attendees are invited to arrive early before their performance to participate in activities led by students from UMD’s Art in Elementary Education classes. The lobby of the Marshall Performing Arts Center will open 45 minutes prior to showtime to allow children and families time to engage in creative projects that will help set the stage for a lively performance.
Audiences will also have an opportunity to get a look behind the curtain and ask questions after each performance through informal post-show talkbacks with the cast.
