Doors of Perception: Printmakers on Language
Event Navigation
Guest curated by Anne Dugan, the show features folio suites by four artists that explore the interplay between visual language and the written and spoken word. A leader in the pop art field, Richard Anuszkiewicz’ 1970 folio of serigraphs features eye popping color alongside verse from William Blake. John Christie also employs the serigraph technique but towards the delicate interplay of love poems by Christopher Logue translated from Pablo Neruda. Ukrainian artist Boris Margo showcases his pioneering technique of cellocut in a surrealist take on the months of the year and Suzanne McClelland ruminates with lithography on a single word.
The Tweed is able to exhibit almost all the artist folios in their entirety, so viewers will be able to enjoy an in depth meditation on the dynamic nature of language.
The museum is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 9am to 4:30pm.
