The Freshwater Dance Collective presents its annual Dances on the Lakewalk, two free outdoor dance concerts at Gichi-ode’ Akiing, formerly Lake Place Park. Choreographers will share dances expressing relationships of all kinds. This journey through relationships of abstract patterns races to the relations of romance, friends and family with dash of jazz, folk, modern and lyrical dance.
The Freshwater Dance Collective is dedicated to the mission of expanding the artistic boundaries of contemporary dance by presenting the choreography of regional and national artists. The company was formed in 1989 to create and produce quality professional modern dance in northeastern Minnesota through public performances and special events. The company collaborates with musicians, visual artists, writers and other choreographers to provide the company with opportunities to present the widest possible range of choreography, music art and subject matter to area audiences.
