Clay Culture: Diverse Selections from the Ceramics Collection
Event Navigation
Curated by ceramics professors Liz James and Jim Klueg, this exhibit draws on the Tweed’s trove of claywork by regional, national and international artists. Their guiding thread in organizing the show was the richness and diversity added to the Tweed’s collection by ceramicists of color.
In curatorial statement, James and Klueg said, “We’ve chosen twenty-eight ceramists of Asian, Black, Brown, and Indigenous heritage — certainly not all the ceramists of color in the collection, but a strong collation of different attitudes, heritages, and techniques focused toward using clay to express ideas, values, and emotions.”
The museum is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
