Cedar Sessions: Steve’s Overpopulated One-man Band

Accordion all-star and Mesabi funnyman Steve Solkela is the leader of a 17-piece, one-man band called Steve’s Overpopulated One-man Band. Solkela describes his performance as “a caffeine-fueled tidal wave of testosterone and creative energy hell bent on world domination and entertaining the masses.” In 2022, he released his fourth full-length album in three years, Sauna Knights, featuring a collection of Minnesota-flavored novelty songs. A comedic instructional video for the single “Up on da Range” exhibits painful stilt walking, dangerous ice dam removal, arm wrestling, a moose mascot and watermelon abuse.
