Bridging the Gap Women’s 10-mile 2022

The second annual Bridging the Gap Women’s 10-mile event takes all of Duluth’s major bragging points and incorporates them into one race. Participants start at the base of Hawk Ridge, taking in the fall colors and Lake Superior views that Skyline Parkway has to offer. After traversing along Hawk Ridge, participants “Bridge the Gap” with a descent down Seven Bridges Road from the Skyline to the waterline. The second half of the course runs along the Lake Superior shoreline on the Duluth Lakewalk with a grand finish in Leif Erickson Park.
The focus of the race is to celebrate women and to raise money for the Bridging the Gap Fund, which benefits the Women’s Business Alliance, a program of the Entrepreneur Fund that is dedicated to supporting women at every stage of entrepreneurship. Last year, the Entrepreneur Fund worked with 1817 entrepreneurs, 70 percent of whom identified as women. The inaugural Bridging the Gap event raised more than $7,400 for the Bridging the Gap Fund.
More than 525 people are registered for the race. Walkers are also welcome. The awards ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m. in Leif Erikson Park. Packet pickup will be held from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Oct. 7 at Duluth Running Co., 1026 E. Superior St.
Skyline Parkway between Glenwood Street and Seven Bridges Road will close to vehicle traffic. This section of the roadway will remain closed until around 9 a.m.
At 7:30 a.m., Seven Bridges road will be closed from Skyline Parkway to Superior Street. This section of the roadway will remain closed until around 10 a.m.
Drivers wanting to travel through the 6000 block of Superior Street should expect delays. The race will cross Superior Street and runners will be given priority. Vehicle traffic is advised to use London Road. Lakeside residents are advised to use 60th, 45th or 40th avenues east to access London Road.
There is no parking on 61st Avenue East below Superior Street from 7:30 a.m. to noon. Violators may be ticketed and towed.
The Lakewalk from 61st Avenue East to Leif Erickson Park is reserved for this event.
