Aug 30, 2023, 8:09 pm
Event Navigation
August’s second full Moon reaches its moment of fullness at 8:35 p.m., but will be out of sight in Duluth after setting at 8:09 p.m. It is the closest full Moon of the year, and is therefore a Supermoon.
A Blue Moon is when there are two full moons in a single month.
Quoth Farmers’ Almanac: “August’s full Moon was traditionally called the Sturgeon Moon because the giant sturgeon of the Great Lakes and Lake Champlain were most readily caught during this part of summer.”
