Beargrease Vet Checks and Meet the Mushers

In preparation for the John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon, every paw is checked. A team of 22 veterinarians and vet techs inspect every dog prior to the race.

Race fans can walk around and talk to the mushers, handlers and race officials and learn all about the sport of mushing. However, if a vet team is assessing a team of dogs, spectators are asked to give plenty of space for them to do their job.

Spectators are asked to park outside of the fairgrounds on the street to leave room for dog trucks, then follow the sounds of the howling dogs.

The event is outdoors, so attendees should dress in layers.
