Authors’ Event: To Be Free: Understanding and Eliminating Racism
Event Navigation
Join the authors of the recently released To Be Free: Understanding and Eliminating Racism (Black Bears and Blueberries Publishing). This new, updated book about racism, seen from an Indigenous perspective, is written for middle school age through adult readers.
Nine chapters cover many aspects of race and racism throughout history up to current times. Each chapter offers ways of learning about racism and combating it using multiple examples and classroom exercises. The book includes the “I Have a Dream” speech by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The 128-page volume is lavishly illustrated with numerous color and black-and-white photographs and drawings.
At the event, the four authors will discuss, take questions, and sign copies of their book.
