Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College is a unique institution created by the Minnesota Legislature in 1987 and chartered as a tribal college by the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa that same year. Opening its doors in the fall of 1987, FDLTCC is the fulfillment of the Fond du Lac Band’s comprehensive educational plan for the reservation serving the Fond du Lac Band, its neighbor community, Cloquet, and the residents of Carlton and southern St. Louis counties in Minnesota.
The World Indigenous Nations Higher Education Consortium was established in August 2002 at the World Indigenous Peoples Conference on Education in Alberta, Canada. WINHEC’s aim is to bring professionals together to achieve common goals through higher education. Members come from many different countries and a variety of diverse areas such as university departments, research organizations and government agencies.
