All-BIPOC Snowshoe/Hike
Event Navigation
The Superior Hiking Trail Association, in partnership with BIPOC Outdoors Twin Ports, is offering a snowshoeing and hiking series for people of color. Whether snowshoeing or hiking happens depends on snow levels. Hike difficulty level is easy, consisting of 3.3 miles with 470 feet of elevation gain or loss.
People who self-identify as Black, Indigenous or a person of color can register by contacting BIPOC Outdoors Twin Ports via email at bipocoutdoorstp @ gmail.com. For more information about what to expect, what gear is needed, or where to get gear, see the FAQ.
The session also includes outdoor skill principles like “leave no trace” and winter safety so that you leave with a deeper knowledge of how to move through winter conditions best equipped.
On the Brewer Loop, the hike leads to a sweeping view of the Duluth Harbor and then heads back into the dense forest watching for birds and other critters along the way. The group also talks about outdoor skill principles like “leave no trace” and winter safety.
Hikes include several breaks along the way for participants to catch their breath and learn more about the environments around them. Hot beverages and light snacks provided.
