Time Bank for Duluth (and Superior)

Is Duluth ready for a time bank? Other cities around the world have them setup. They are a way to exchange hours of work (not goods).

Informational meeting: Tuesday, Nov. 15, 8 to 9:30 a.m, Ordean (United Way) building, Superior St. & Fifth Ave. W, first floor conference room.

For more info on time banking go to timebanks.org or e-mail dianeemerson @ yahoo.com.

Volunteers Needed at Playfront Park

The Junior League of Duluth is moving forward with the building of Playfront Park! The new playground will be built in May with the Grand Opening celebration scheduled for June 4.

We need both skilled laborers and general volunteers to help assemble the new Playground. All skill levels welcome but every volunteer must be 18 years of age or older.

Veg Week Planning Meeting

Veg Week starts Sept. 29 and we need as many volunteers to help plan the events as possible. Are you involved with a local band? Have an in at veggie friendly establishments? Want to host a veggie potluck? Interested in passing out information at local colleges or distributing posters?

We are meeting at Beaner’s at 10:30 this coming Saturday (August 8). You need not be vegan/veggie to join us – all are welcome!

Veg Week Volunteers Needed!

Compassionate Action for Animals hosts an annual Veg Week in the Twin Cities and we would like to kick one off in the Duluth area! The event includes a “Pledge to be Veg” element in which people either sign up to be vegetarian or vegan for the week depending on their current diet, and receive a vegan care package and a Pledge to be Veg Card that offers discounts at local veg-friendly establishments. There are many things that we could plan including film viewings and veggie cookouts. The more help and ideas the better this event will be. Help put together Duluth’s first annual Veg Week!
