Children’s author Phyllis Root and illustrator and Grand Marais native Betsy Bowen will be signing copies of their new children’s book Big Belching Bog at Northern Lights Books & Gifts on Saturday, Dec. 4, from 1-2 pm.
Author and former Duluth News-Tribune reporter Laurie Hertzel will be signing copies of her new book News to Me: Adventures of an Accidental Journalist at Northern Lights Books & Gifts on Friday, Nov. 26, from 1-2 pm.
Author Gayla Marty will be signing copies of her book Memory of Trees: A Daughter’s Story of a Family Farm at Northern Lights Books & Gifts from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday, May 8. Movingly written, Memory of Trees will resonate for many with attachments to small towns or farms, whether they continue to work the land or, like so many, have left for a different life.

As you may all know David Sedaris was in town last night promoting the soft-cover release of his latest book When You Are Engulfed in Flames. I had the honor of playing tunes for the waiting crowd which finally wound down at 1 a.m.. I don’t imagine there are any authors that stick around until every last book is signed but he sure did. I could have left early but I was hoping to have him record a promo for my radio show, which he did! I also recorded the show on my phone for those of you who didn’t make it out.
