A crowd of photographers and ship watchers convened at Canal Park on Jan. 14 to watch the Oberstar glide through the icy water concluding its final voyage of the shipping season. Come along for the ride as the ship chugs out hot plumes of steam and cuts a path through the ice.
If Duluth’s views are breathtaking from ground level, wait until you see them from up high. Refresh you eyes with an unfamiliar perspective of familiar things.

I just moved to Duluth this past summer and have been busy getting to know the area and exploring all Duluth has to offer. I spent the past eight years on the beaches of North Carolina and have been anxiously awaiting the snow to fall! My son and I have been flying and racing drones as a hobby for a number of years, and I’ve transitioned into a professional videographer. Hope you enjoy the video we shot over the weekend!

Minnesota Nice Imaging of Bloomington captured these images following last week’s flooding in northern Minnesota and Wisconsin.
“The rivers were RAGING!” the video description on Vimeo notes. “It was so loud, you couldn’t hear the drones 10 feet away from you. What amazing sights to behold though — the St. Louis River and Thompson Reservoir were busting at the banks to the point that even the large inlet to Lake Superior was flooding, and creating some amazing rapids!”

Timothy Johnson of Whitespace Films was on Lake Superior’s North Shore over Christmas, when the temperature was around -20 °F. “This video shows just some of the beauty that can emerge from, and because of, the cold,” Johnson writes on the YouTube description.
