Noodles the black bear visits Miller Hill Mall

Ryan Carlson, a security officer at Duluth’s Miller Hill Mall, shot this image of a black bear trying to pay a visit to the Noodles & Company restaurant at the mall’s main entrance around 3 a.m. Wednesday.

Katie Altrichter Kaz, the mall’s general manager, posted the image on Facebook and wrote that she’s named the bear Noodles and considers it the mall’s new mascot.

There is no checkered flag …

Lake Superior Aquaman: Top 20 Videos

#1.) Official video for the Low song “Gentle.” 2015. My one paying video gig and crowning achievement. Low saw Lake Superior Aquaman footage I posted here and requested I fit it to this song. The imagery is of the collapsed column of Uncle Harvey’s Mausoleum/The Icehouse in Duluth’s outer harbor off the Lakewalk.

In this 1972 clip from WDIO-TV, reporter Stu Stronach enlists cameraman Mark Ryan to buy an ounce of marijuana on Fourth Avenue West and Superior Street.

Ethan Freel transferred this film to video and added the music.

MIA Artist Profile: Wing Young Huie

Duluth-born artist Wing Young Huie uses his photography to explore what shapes our view of the world. In this video, produced by the Minneapolis Institute of Art and directed by Mike Dust, the artist examines his work among community in the Twin Cities, as well as projects in China, where his family is from.

The Comedy Central sitcom Workaholics, which ran from 2011-’17, featured two references to Duluth.

Most natural surface trails in Duluth now open

Woohoo! The city has opened most of its natural surface trails. Now we all get to figure out the dance required to stay six feet apart when meeting someone on those narrow trails.
