From recording with Liz Phair on Exile in Guyville, to opening for the likes of Warren Zevon, Wilco and the Jayhawks, two-time Minnesota Music Award winner John Casey Awsumb brings his road narratives of Alaskan fishing, Texas Two Stepping and nomadic living to Wussow's for another sledgehammer folk fest.

The signup list for 15-minute slots is put out at 6 p.m. Performers traveling from out of town can email Jason Wussow about a featured slot at jasonwussow @ gmail.com.

Wussows is hosting a night of indie music and special tunes for the people of Duluth. The night consists of performances by Sophie Hiroko, Willem Dafoe Fan Club, C U Next Tuesday and Bitchcraft. Tickets can be bought at simpletix.com.

Rupert Wates was born in London and studied at Oxford University. His music is a mix of acoustic, melodic art/folk, with flavors of jazz, vaudeville and cabaret. Despite Wates' British background, and underpinning the universality of his music's appeal, Folk And Acoustic Music Exchange has called him "a prime figure in American music." Sam Miltich is a self-taught jazz guitarist born and raised in the woods of northern Minnesota. The Hot Club of Duluth plays the jazz music of the roaring '20s -- from melancholy torch songs to the hot jazz of Django Reinhardt to Duke Ellington. Guitarist Russell Sackett performs an all-ages show at Wussow's on the fourth Thursday of most months, playing popular selections from across the decades.
