This interactive event invites community members to join UMD students and faculty off campus in an engaging conversation about Dungeons and Dragons — the tabletop cult-classic turned worldwide sensation — by viewing it through a philosophical lens. The panel features a diverse group of students and faculty who will share their experiences and insights on the intersections of Dungeons and Dragons and philosophy. Explore the world of chaga — learn how to identify, harvest, dry and prepare Minnesota's medical treasure. Each student will make their own tincture in class to take home with them to care for, harvest and use. A group of difficult-to-detect birds called secretive marshbirds including rails, bitterns, grebes and others rely on high-quality wetlands and have been experiencing population decreases due to loss and degradation of habitat. Attendees learn about these species, the threats they face, their use of Allouez Bay and other wetlands in the St. Louis River Estuary and a restoration project in Allouez Bay that is restoring habitat that they rely on with Tom Prestby, the Wisconsin Conservation Manager with Great Lakes Audubon.
